Saints Women’s Basketball 4-0 After Win over Sheridan

Windsor, ON – The St. Clair College Women's Basketball team ran their West Division leading record to 4-0 with an 83-55 win over Sheridan College (Brampton) at the SportsPlex Sunday afternoon. 

St. Clair held Sheridan to just a pair of field goals in the opening frame and entered the second quarter up comfortably at 28-8.  The Saints increased the gap by halftime and led 40-25 at the break.  St. Clair pushed that lead to as much as 33 points down the stretch and with the result in hand each player dressed for the Saints was able to register a basket in the game.

St. Clair only allowed Sheridan to shoot 23% from the field and held a 35-10 advantage in bench scoring while converting 25 turnovers into 25 points.

Rookie point guard Shae-Lyn Murphy (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) had a breakout performance for St. Clair scoring a game high 18 points to go with 4 rebounds.  Fourth year guard Jana Kucera (Chatham, ON) put up 15 points while first year forward Jessica Paolini (Hamilton, ON) came off the bench to score 10 points while adding 6 rebounds for St. Clair. 

Jaedyn Dunkley (Brampton, ON) scored 13 points and added 5 rebounds for Sheridan in the loss.

The St. Clair Women go on the road for a two games next weekend to face Niagara College (Welland) on Saturday and Conestoga College (Kitchener) on Sunday.
