Fanshawe Baseball Does Not Advance in the OCAA Championship

The Falcons Baseball team (9-9, 4th) fell to the Centennial Colts (9-9, 5th) at the OCAA Championship hosted by Seneca College on Thursday morning. Unfortunately, the 6-3 loss will end the season for the Birds.

The Colts were first to get on the board and take a 1-0 lead. At the bottom of the first, the Falcons answered while at the plate as OCAA Second Team All-Star and All-Rookie, Riley Wheeler (Shelburne, ON) hit his eighth home run of the season. The visitors went up 3-1 in the second and added another run at the top of the fourth. Later, in the bottom of the fourth, Carter Stratton (Guelph, ON) hit a double and scored teammate Marcus Normandin (Mississauga, ON).

Down 4-2, the game was in reach for the Falcons. Pitcher, Judah McArthur (Cambridge, ON) managed six strikeouts against Centennial. But, in the sixth, the Colts crossed home plate twice to increase their advantage. With a final chance during the bottom of the seventh, the Birds were only able to convert once and dropped the ball game. Riley Wheeler was named player of the game for the Falcons.
