Lions Can't Stop Top Seeds in Final Games

SARNIA, ON - With their string of back-to-back appearances in the playoffs snapped, the Lambton Lions hosted two CCAA ranked opponents, featuring the #1 Sheridan Bruins and the #9 Humber Hawks. The Lions came away with 2 more losses, ending their season with a 3-13 record and the focus shifting to next season. Lambton honoured two of their graduating players before Sunday's contest, guard Colton Vaters and forward Frank Benneh

On Saturday Night, the Lions dropped a 100-76 decision to the Sheridan Bruins, who haven't lost an OCAA game since the Lions defeated them in last year's bronze medal matchup. Branden Padgett led the Lions with 29 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists. Jason Marshell put up 16 for Lambton, including four triples. Scoring was rounded out by Mark Lue-Hue with nine, Brett Holly and Xavian Edwards eight, Mitch Humby four, and Frank Benneh two to go with eight boards.

Lambton dropped a 84-66 decision to the Canadian #9 Humber Hawks to wrap up the 2016-17 campaign. Jason Marshell led the Lions with 21 points and 10 rebounds while Branden Padgett had 14. Frank Benneh had eight points and nine rebounds in his final game as a Lion. Xavian Edwards had six points and eight rebounds while Mitch Humby and Tanoundy Sylla had five points each. Scoring was rounded out by Mark Lue-Hue with four and Paul Whitson with three.
