Mohawk Mountaineers men's basketball pulled away early en route to a 101-86 victory over the Fanshawe Falcons.

The Mountaineers led the entire game but began turning the ball over in the fourth quarter, allowing the Falcons to stay within reach. Eventually, Mohawk found their footing and finished off the game well.

"I thought if there was one area today where we didn't do very well, it was the number of turnovers we had against their pressure. Other than that, I thought we played well," said head coach Brian Jonker.

Despite the tough defence they faced, the Mountaineers had another efficient game shooting the ball at 50.7 per cent from the field.

Mohawk also showed a balanced scoring attack with six different players finishing with at least 10 points.

First-year guard Stefan Anisko (Haldimand County, ON) had another excellent performance, leading the team in scoring with 22 points and adding seven rebounds.

The coaching staff believe that the balance the team has offensively is the key to Anisko's success.

"He recognizes that he doesn't have to carry the load (on offense), we have a lot of great players on this team," said Jonker.

Daniel Graham (Hamilton, ON) scored 19 points on five three's and Jerry Mercury Jr. (Scarborough, ON) was efficient with 16 points.

The Mountaineers next travel to play the Humber Hawks on Nov. 2 at 8 p.m.
