Women’s Basketball 2-0 After Niagara Home Win

Windsor, ON – The St. Clair College Women's Basketball team moved to 2-0 on the season after a 78-51 win over Niagara College (Welland) Saturday afternoon at the SportsPlex. 

With an early 15-10 lead after the opening frame St. Clair poured it on the second quarter thanks in large part to 3rd year guard Logan Kucera (Chatham, ON) who scored 15 of her team's 29 points and staked the Saints to a 44-25 advantage at the half.   St. Clair grew their lead to as much as 30 points early in the fourth quarter and cruised down the stretch.  The Saints held a 63-48 advantage on the glass and scored 26 points on 18 Niagara turnovers.  St. Clair held Niagara to a pale 24.7% shooting from the field and capitalized with 17 second chance points.   

Logan Kucera finished with a game high 33 points adding 11 rebounds for the double-double while dishing out 6 assists to go with 3 steals.  Noor Bazzi (Windsor, ON/Vincent Massey) approached double figures with 9 points adding 5 rebounds while Keirsten Tomkins (Sarnia, ON) had 16 rebounds for St. Clair adding 8 points.

Jessyka Malikski (Mississauga, ON) had 14 points for Niagara. 

The St. Clair Women's Basketball team go on the road for a pair of exhibition games this coming week with no OCAA West Division games until Oct. 30th when they travel to rival Fanshawe College (London).  St. Clair visits NAIA Rochester University (Rochester, MI) Tuesday night and goes to Macomb CC (Warren, MI) on Saturday.
