No. 3 Men's Volleyball downs Conestoga to begin '22 campaign

ETOBICOKE— No. 3 Humber men's volleyball opened their 2022 season with a win, defeating the Conestoga Condors Thursday evening at the North Campus Gym, 3-0. The final set scores were 25-23, 25-17, and 25-15.

Jake Gomes and Joshua Fadare were the standouts for Humber in the victory. Gomes finished with 28 assists, seven aces, three digs, and one block on the night. Fadare led the team in scoring with 19 points coming on 13 kills, four aces and two blocks.

Both sides traded points for much of the opening set. The Hawks managed to pull away late in the set using a 7-4 run to take the opener, 25-23. Fadare was the catalyst for Humber recording seven kills in the first frame.

Gomes set the tone to open the second set for Humber, recording four straight aces as the Hawks took control early. Humber would never relinquish that lead taking the second set convincingly, 25-17.

The Hawks carried that momentum into the third and final set, again jumping out to a big 13-3 lead early and never looking back, taking this one in straight sets, 3-0.
