Softball Continue Strong Play with Sweep at Humber

Etobicoke, ON – The St. Clair College Women's Softball team swept a doubleheader from Humber College Saturday afternoon at Connorvale Park in Etobicoke by scores of 10-1 and 3-1. The Saints now sit at 13-3 and remain alone at the top of the OCAA standings.

In the first game St. Clair moved ahead 2-0 in the 2nd inning but put the game out of reach in the 5th with 5 more runs. After scoring 3 runs in the 7th, the Saints only allowed a single run by the home side in the last half. Saints pitcher Olivia Elliott (Oakville, ON) took the win on the mound in the opener throwing a complete game allowing a single run on 9 hits while striking out 7 Humber batters. Alexandra Senft (Windsor, ON/ Walkerville Collegiate) and Rya Cowan (Lasalle, ON/Sandwich) each had home runs for the Saints while Kim Moroun (Belle River, ON/Belle River) added 3 hits in the lopsided win.

The Saints needed an extra inning in the game two win after giving up a 1-run lead when Humber tied the game at 1-1 in the 6th. The Saints scored two in the 8th and used a double play to end the contest after Megan Lumley (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) caught a fly in right field and gunned down a Humber runner at the plate. St. Clair starter Sara Stiller (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) pitched all 8 innings and earned the victory after surrendering just 1 run on 8 hits but struck out 6 batters Catcher Lauryn Schram (Windsor, ON/St. Joseph's) had a key RBI hit for St. Clair in the win.

The Saints are next in action when they host Fanshawe College on Tuesday night at Mic Mac Park with game times of 6:00 and 8:00pm. They then travel to Saskatoon Thanksgiving weekend for the Canadian Collegiate Softball Association National Championship tournament.
