The Storyline

Humber softball will be hosting the Conestoga Condors (2-6, 5th OCAA) for its 2021 home opener on Sept. 30 at Connorvale Park. The first pitch is set for 6 p.m. and will be streamed live on the Hawks Sports Network.

Last Time Out

In a rematch of the 2019 provincial title game, Humber beat the Durham Lords behind a complete-game shutout from Meagan Muir.

Scouting Conestoga
  • The Condors enter the doubleheader with a four-game losing streak.
  • Alexis Volckmar is pacing the Condors offence with a .500 batting average – the sixth-best mark in the conference.
  • Conestoga's pitching staff has allowed the most home runs in the OCAA.
  • The Hawks are 13-5 all-time against the Condors at home.
Previous Meeting

The Hawks beat Conestoga on Sept. 19 in their only meeting this season. Kadyn Wotton picked up her first win of the season, while Hayley Pasma finished 3-for-3 with two triples.

Diamond in the Rough

First-year outfielder Christina D'Angelo has been a bright spot for Humber's offence, pacing the way with a team-high .364 batting average and four stolen bases.

Petty Theft

Humber's 18 stolen bases are the top-mark in the OCAA. Alexa Vassos and Hannah Koziolek currently sit at the top of Humber's all-time career stolen base list with 20 and 18, respectively.

Induction

Humber softball alumnae Jacquline O'Quinn will be honoured pregame to announce her selection to the 2022 Humber Hall of Fame class. O'Quinn will be the third player in program history inducted into the Hall, joining her sister Jessica, Class of 2016, and Kelsey Bardy, Class of 2018.

O'Quinn was a two-time OCAA champion, two-time OCAA all-star, a career .436 hitter, and still holds the single-season program record with 18 stolen bases.

What's Next?

Humber will head on the road to take on Fanshawe (3-3, 4th OCAA) on October 3. Game one is scheduled for noon.
