TORONTO, ON - In what was undoubtably the two toughest contests of the season, Lambton found the short end of the stick twice. Facing the provincially ranked #5 Humber Hawks on Saturday and #1 Sheridan Bruins on Sunday, the Lions were shown first hand why the two Toronto teams were ranked so high. 

Saturday at Humber saw the Lions jump out to an early 1st quarter lead, holding on at 22-18. The 2nd quarter was played just as tight, with the Hawks just starting to flex their muscles as they snatched the lead heading into the half 35-31. A 6-0 run by the Hawks to start the half was just a sign of things to come, as Humber went off for 45 points in the 2nd half, outscoring Lambton by a wide margin to take the win by a score of 80-54. Branden Padgett was the high man for the Lions with 15 points while Jason Marshell joined him in double-digits at 12. Rounding out the scoring was Jay Trojek with 8, Mitchell Humby with 5, Frank Benneh with 4, Ousmane Kromah and Akot Dhal with 3 each, and Xavian Edwards and Colton Vaters with 2 each. 

Facing the #1 provincially ranked Sheridan Bruins, Lambton was outclassed from the start. The Bruins showcased their height advantage early on while applying a smothering full court press, riding that wave to a dominating 103-69 win. Padgett played an excellent all-around game for the Lions with 20 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Vaters had his shooting touch, putting 18 on the board while Marshell finished with 9.

Coach James Grant was positive about the weekend and the takeaways from it. "The weekend went pretty much as we expected. Both Humber and Sheridan are solid teams with great veteran leadership. It was good for our young guys to see the standard that those programs live up to."

The Lions have the week off but will finish off the first half of the season on Tuesday December 6th at home against the Redeemer Royals. Game time is at 8pm.
