Men's Volleyball Open Season with Two Wins

Windsor,ON- The St. Clair men's volleyball team opened their OCAA regular season schedule at home this past weekend at the Sportsplex and ended up pulling off two wins.

On Saturday the Saints hosted the Cambrian Golden Shield (Sudbury) and had an easy 3-0 win.

Set scores for St. Clair were 25-13, 25-18 and 25-11. It was a great all around team performance with key contributions for several players. 2nd year outside hitter Frankie Friesen (Staples; Tilbury District) had a big match with 9 kills, 1 service ace and 2 digs. Outside hitter Ryan Acott (Windsor; Kennedy Collegiate) had a huge game as well with 11 kills, 1 service ace and 3 digs. Rookie setter Simran Pahal (Kitchener; Huron Heights) also had a solid match with 2 kills, 9 service aces, 29 assists and 6 digs.

The men continued their OCAA regular season schedule at home on Sunday afternoon and came away with a hard fought 3-0 win over the College Boreal Viperes (Sudbury).

Set scores for St. Clair were 25-23, 25-19 and 25-15. The entire starting lineup had a great match with key points coming from the entire group. 2nd year outside hitter Frankie Friesen (Staples; Tibury District) led the way with 9 kills, 2 stuff blocks, and 4 services aces. Julien Miletic (Windsor; Kennedy Collegiate) had a great match as well with 8 kills. Middle Ubert Batista (Colon, Panama) chipped in with 3 kills, 1 service ace, 3 stuff blocks and 2 digs.

With the win St. Clair improved to 2-0 while Boreal dropped to 0-3. The Saints are next in action on Saturday, November 2 when they host the Redeemer University Royals (Ancaster
