Women’s Basketball Cruise in Hamilton and Welland

amilton/Welland, ON – The St. Clair College Women's Basketball team won a pair of road games this past weekend downing Mohawk College (Hamilton) 82-51 Saturday and capped it with a 73-41 victory over Niagara College (Welland) on Sunday.  The Lady Saints (10-3) are now alone in third place in the OCAA's West Division with five games remaining in their regular season schedule.

 

In Saturday's win St. Clair held Mohawk to just 25% shooting from the field on their way to the lopsided win.  Jana Kucera (Chatham, ON) scored a game high 22 points adding 6 assists for the Saints and was joined by twin sister Logan Kucera (Chatham, ON) in double figures who netted 13 points to go with 6 rebounds.  Nicole Tamm (Windsor, ON/Holy Names) just missed a double-double recording 10 rebounds and chipped in with 9 points for St. Clair. 

 

On Sunday the Saints enjoyed more of the same hospitality as they held Niagara under 25% shooting but also controlled the glass throughout the game amassing a 52-28 advantage in rebounding.  St. Clair also shot nearly 54% from deep and were ahead by as much as 39 points in the fourth quarter which allowed bench scoring to be 29-5 in their favour.   Tamm came off the bench for the Saints to score a game high 18 points adding 6 rebounds.  Logan Kucera had a nice game scoring 12 points to go with 8 rebounds and 4 assists while Anna Ulicny (Tecumseh, ON/St. Anne) chipped in with 10 points for St. Clair.  Usual Saints sharpshooter Noor Bazzi (Windsor, ON/Vincent Massey) made her mark in a different form collecting 14 rebounds to go with 6 points. 

 

The Lady Saints return home Feb. 5th to face Lambton College (Sarnia).
