The Falcons and Saints Draw at the Fanshawe Soccer Field

(London, Ontario) – On Saturday afternoon, the Fanshawe Men's Soccer team (1-0-2) tied 1-1 with the St. Clair Saints (1-0-1).

In the sixteenth minute, Fanshawe's Kyle Cameron (St. Catharines, ON) was awarded a penalty kick after getting past the St. Clair defence and struck a beautiful goal to put the Birds up 1-0. The remainder of the first half was a defensive battle, with the total shots on goal being 9-6 in favour of the Falcons. Fanshawe controlled most of the possession in the first half, but the Saints defenders were able to block a couple of Fanshawe's dangerous shot attempts, keeping the Birds to one.

Six minutes into the second half, St. Clair's Tanner Page (Bothwell, ON) scored to tie things up, assisted by Michael Zivcic (Windsor, ON). With only five shots taken by each team in the second half, the remaining minutes of the match went scoreless. Defender Colin Elvie (Vittoria, ON) made notable plays to limit the Saints' chances and the final score of the match was 1-1.

Fanshawe travels to the Lambton College Soccer Field on Wednesday, September 20 when they take on the Lambton Lions (0-3) at home at 5 p.m.
