Men's Soccer Lose Tough Season Opener

Ancaster, ON- The St. Clair Men's soccer team opened their OCAA regular season schedule on Saturday afternoon in Ancaster against the Redeemer Royals. The Saints played well but suffered a tough 2-1 loss.

 

The Saints went up 1-0 in the 20th minute on a nice goal by rookie Nick Bauer-pictured- (Windsor; Riverside Secondary) Redeemer tied it at 1 in the 50th minute and scored the winner in the 65th minute. St. Clair pressed hard for the remaining 25 minutes but could not get the equalizer.

 

St. Clair dominated play with 34 shot attempts compared to 13 for the Royals. The Redeemer keeper made 14 saves compared to 5 for the Saints keeper. St. Clair had 6 corner kicks while Redeemer had 0.

 

The Saints open their home schedule on Tuesday Sept, 11 at 7 pm when they host the Fanshawe Falcons at the Libro Centre in Amhertsburg
