Men’s Basketball Cold in Ancaster

Ancaster, ON – The St. Clair College Men's Basketball team couldn't get a rhythm Saturday night in Ancaster falling 101-72 to Redeemer University College dropping their record to 4-8 in the OCAA's West Division.

The Saints got off to a bad start barely reaching double figures in the opening quarter and fell behind 26-10 entering the second.  Redeemer remained ahead 47-29 by halftime after an even second quarter and the teams continued to play relatively even through the third.  But Redeemer poured it on in the fourth outscoring St. Clair 35-24 down the stretch.  The Saints suffered through a poor shooting night making only 29% from the floor and launched 37 triples in the game converting just 11.  Redeemer conversely shot 53% in the contest and won the rebound war 55-35 while scoring 58 points in the paint.

David Gomez Jr. (Pontiac, MI) led St. Clair with 22 points making 4 long balls while adding 4 assists.  Jalen Sykes (Redford, MI) put up 19 points but they were the only Saints reach double figures.

All 5 Redeemer starters reached double figures led by Spencer Kerssies (Hamilton, ON) who had 23 points in the win.

The St. Clair Men's Basketball team complete their road trip on Sunday at Niagara College (Welland) which tips at 3:00pm.
