Women's Soccer Off to Final Four Championship

Windsor, ON- The St. Clair college women's soccer team took to their home pitch on Saturday afternoon in OCAA Quarterfinal playoff action against the Centennial College Colts.  The Saints came away with a hard fought 1-0 win and have now qualified for the OCAA Final Four Championship. This will be the first time the Saints have played in the Final Four since 2015.

The Colts controlled most of the play for the first 25 minutes but St. Clair picked their game up at that point. Karlee Tinline (Cambridge; Preston High) scored the game's only goal on a nice strike in the 29th minute. The Saints had a couple more great chances in the latter stages of the first half but could not find the back of the net.

The second half was evenly played but neither team could mount much offense. Defenders Layla Hutson (Windsor; Holy Names) and Lily Collins (Windsor; Holy Names) both had great matches for the Saints to keep the high scoring Colts offense quiet.

Keeper Scotlyn Fick (Belle River; Belle River District) was solid in goal earing the win and clean sheet turning aside all 7 shots she faced.

St. Clair will now travel to Toronto to the Ontario Soccer Centre where the Humber Hawks will be host college for the Championship. The event will take place on Friday, October 27th and Saturday October 28th.  The Saints will be taking on Seneca College in one semifinal while Humber will be facing Durham in the other. The winners will play for gold while the losers will fight for OCAA bronze.

St. Clair ended the season 2nd in the West Division record of 7 wins, 1 loss and 2 ties and are ranked 5th in Ontario. Seneca were first in the east with a record of 9-1 and are ranked 1st in Ontario and in 2nd Canada.
