Fanshawe Women’s Softball Improves to a Four-Game Win Streak

(London, Ontario) – The Fanshawe Women's Softball team (7-11) hosted the Conestoga Condors (3-15) on Sunday afternoon.  The Falcons were triumphant in both games against the Condors, winning the first game by a score of 7-4 and the second game 8-7.

 

In the first game of the doubleheader, Fanshawe's Marandee Hunter (Chatham, ON) started the bottom of the second with a double, followed by a stolen base. Hunter would eventually score alongside Kailyn Cook (Ingersoll, ON) from a Sydnee Reidy (London, ON) hit to put the Falcons up two. In the third inning, the Falcons smashed an outstanding five hits and scored four runs to put them up 6-0 against the visitors. During the top of the fourth, Conestoga would answer, getting on the board with three runs. The Falcons extended their lead in the fourth inning when a hit from Jada Doxtator (Southwold, ON) scored Paige Askew (London, ON). The Falcons ended the game on a strikeout thrown by Alley Kemp (Fullarton, ON). The final score of game one was 7-4 in favour of Fanshawe.

 

In game two, the Falcons once again opened the scoring to go up 2-0 on a Doxtator double and a Hunter triple. In the third inning, Fanshawe would add to their lead with two RBI's from Leah Yantzi (Shakespeare, ON) and an RBI hit by Olivia Peaker (St. Thoams, ON). It was all Fanshawe until the fourth inning when Conestoga went up 7-5. The Falcons added a point in the fifth and a huge double from Doxtator scored Ashtyn Wedow (Mitchell, ON) and Askew to secure their 8-7 victory. Fanshawe's Doxtator had a notable performance as she hit six out of eight times while at bat.

 

Fanshawe's next game will be on the road on Friday, October 6, when they travel to face the Sheridan Bruins.
