Men's Soccer Remain Unbeaten

The St. Clair College men's soccer team had a big weekend as they travelled to the Hamilton area for two OCAA matches on the road. It was a successful trip for the Saints as they won both games to improve their record to 3 wins and a tie.

On Friday night, the Saints defeated the Redeemer University Royals by a score of 4-0. St. Clair came out slow in the first half but managed to escape with a 1-0 lead with Massimo Pollard (Windsor; Holy Names) scoring in the 14th minute. The Saints came out flying in the second half scoring 3 times early to put the game away. Moussa Nizam (Windsor; Kennedy) put one in the Redeemer goal in the 46th minute assisted by Michael Zivcic (Windsor; St. Joseph's). Tanner Page (Bothwell; West Elgin) put St. Clair up 3-0 in the 56th minute assisted by Zivcic. Fares Akdar (Windsor; De LaMoth Cadillac) wrapped up the scoring in the 67th minute assisted by Page.

Johnathan Rondinelli (Windsor; Riverside) was solid in goal earning the clean sheet stopping all 9 shots he faced.

Redeemers record fell to 1-4 on the season with the loss.

On Saturday afternoon, St. Clair defeated the Mohawk Mountaineers by a score of 5-1.  Unlike the night before, the Saints had a great first half leading 4-0 going into the break. Zivcic put St. Clair up 1-0 in the 2nd minute of play. Moussa Nizam made it 2-0 in the 27th minute. Moussa scored his second of the game shortly after in the 32nd minute assisted by Zivcic. Page scored in the 37th minute also assisted by Zivic.

Nizam got the hat trick notching his third goal in the 49th minute of play.

Rondinelli was good in goal once again earning the win giving up one goal at the end of game in injury time.

Mohawk's record dropped to 2-2-1 on the season after the defeat.

St. Clair is currently ranked 6th in the OCAA. Defenders Austin Severino (Kingsville; Kingsville District), Ilija Pavicic (Belle River; St. Anne's) and Ezra Fogal (Windsor; St. Joseph's) all had outstanding weekends for St. Clair even though they never got on the scoresheet.

The Saints are next in action on Saturday, September 30 when they host the Niagara Knights at 4 pm at Acumen Stadium at the Sportsplex.
