Big Win for Women's Volleyball Over Niagara

Windsor, ON - The St. Clair women's volleyball team began the second half of their OCAA regular season schedule at home on Sunday afternoon and came away with a hard fought 3-1 win over the Niagara College Knights (Welland).

Set scores for St. Clair were 25-18, 25-18, 24-26, and 25-18. The Saints had lost to Niagara in Welland 3-1 on December 2nd.  St. Clair was led by 3rd year returning player Shalena Horst (Dutton; West Elgin) who was playing her first match in almost 4 years. Horst had 17 kills, 1 stuff block and 12 digs. Rookie outside hitter Chantal DeVlugt  (Wyoming; LCCVI) had a big game with 15 kills and 6 digs. Rookie middle Keyome Ellis (Toronto; Jean Vanier Catholic) also had a solid game with 8 kills, 1 service ace, 4 stuff blocks and 4 digs.

With the win, St. Clair improved to 7-3 while Niagara fell to 6-4. The Saints are currently ranked 4th in Ontario while the Knights are ranked 5th.  The Saints are next in action on Saturday, January 18 when they travel to Sudbury to take on the College Boreal Viperes.
