(London, Ontario) – The #6 CCAA ranked Fanshawe Men's Soccer squad (8-0-1) clinched first place in the OCAA West Division and a Provincial Championship berth with a 2-1 win over Niagara (6-2-1) this evening. The Falcons extended their OCAA regular season unbeaten streak to 26 games.

In a battle between the two top teams in the West Division, the Falcons got on the board first. Alberto Barquin (London, ON) had a beautiful corner kick that found the head of Ayden Newton-birani (London, ON) in the 18th minute. Two minutes later, Fanshawe extended their lead to 2-0 when Ben Vyfschaft (London, ON) found Mike Sneddon (Mount Brydges, ON), who scored his 12th goal of the season.

In the second half, Niagara picked up the intensity and netted a goal in the 75th minute. The Falcons would respond well to the opposition's goal, maintaining the majority of the possession for the remainder of the game. The home team outshot the Knights 23-4.

The Falcons will conclude their regular season at home on Saturday, October 13 versus the Redeemer Royals (4-2-2) at 2pm. The last time the two teams met on September 13, the result was a 2-2 tie.
