Grizzlies Split Double Header Weekend to End Regular Season
Grizzlies split a win over Fleming and a loss against Durham to end the season at home.
What Happened: A double header weekend ended with half the result Georgian was looking for as they hosted the Durham Lords and Fleming Knights. On Friday, after a quick opening ceremony to honour former director of athletics, Michele McConney, the Grizzlies started their offensive attack on Durham. A three set victory (25-18, 25-15, 25-22) against Durham gave Georgian a strong momentum going into Saturday afternoon's match against Durham. Unfortunately the momentum wasn't enough to displace the Lords as the Grizzlies fell in three sets (25-8, 25-14, 25-15) to end off their regular season.
Friday against Fleming, Carina Brooks delivered ten kills, seven digs, and five aces, with Halcyon Della Penta contributing seven kills, three digs, and two aces. On Saturday against the Durham Lords, Sierra Pierce and Halcyon Della Penta both put up five kills, with Ashlynn Harris blocking two attempts by the Lords.
Saturday also featured Senior's Night, where the Grizzlies honoured graduating members of the Women's Volleyball team with flowers and a photo. Georgian's graduating athletes are Ashlynn Harris, Ashtyn Smith, Isabella Antonelli, and Halcyon Della Penta.
