Durham snaps Georgian's win streak
The Georgian Grizzlies dropped their first game of the season to the Durham Lords 3-0 on Thursday night at the Georgian Athletic Centre
Something had to give on Thursday night at the Georgian Athletic Centre as the undefeated Georgian Grizzlies women's volleyball team took on the undefeated Durham Lords.
Unfortunately for Georgian's women's team it was not their night.
The red-hot Lords got up early and the Grizzlies were unable to recover in a 3-0 loss (25-20, 25-18, 25-12).
Ashley Mavreas led Georgian with five kills while Brianne Berriault had 17 digs.
This was the first time the Grizzlies had dropped even a set this year, ending a solid opening streak.
Despite the loss, the Grizzlies still sit in second place in the OCAA east division standings with a 3-1 record.
The next Grizzlies home game takes place on Saturday, Nov. 12 when Georgian hosts the Algonquin Thunder at 1 p.m. as they continue their four-game home stand.
