Fred Batley's devotion to the OCAA is unequivocally evident through Fred's service in over 26 OCAA leadership roles over several decades, alongside 42 years in Athletics and Recreation at Fleming College.

Fred's career included serving as OCAA President for two separate terms (1993-1995 and 2011-2013), serving as Past President (1995-1997) and sitting on the selection committee for numerous sports including men's hockey, men's basketball, men's and women's soccer, and men's and women's volleyball. Fred was also the OCAA Men's Rugby Convenor (2017) and Women's Rugby Sevens Convenor (2018). Fred's work with the OCAA also included roles on the Constitution Committee, Eligibility Committee, Finance Committee, and the Safety & Risk Management Committee.

Fred also served as a CCAA Convenor for a total of eight seasons, from 2008-2010 and again from 2014-2020. Prior to that, Fred was also a member of the CCAA Executive for nine years. Fred was the VP Governance (1999-2002), the CCAA President (2002-2006) and Past President (2006-2008). Fred's CCAA duties closed as the Women's Volleyball Convenor before retiring in 2019.

Fred proudly represented the OCAA and Fleming College, committed to balancing responsibilities as an employee with endless volunteer service to the OCAA. Fred was a leader to ensure the OCAA and Fleming College's shared value of being student-focused was a priority. Further, Fred created an environment for Fleming College's student-athletes and teams that promoted academic success and provided a forum for personal development, key components of the OCAA mission and Fleming College's commitment to student success inside and outside of the classroom.

Fred clearly distinguished himself through extraordinary and exceptional contributions to the development and advancement of the OCAA.
