The Mohawk College women's cross country teams dominated OCAA trails during the 1980s, winning eight consecutive team titles.

The leader of this dynasty was Lisa Amsden. During her three years as a part of the Mohawk squad, she dominated, winning three consecutive women's individual gold medals, elevating the Mountaineers to the team title every year for six gold medals overall.

For her accomplishments, Amsden was awarded the Mohawk College cross country MVP and outstanding female athlete of the year award three times from 1985-86 to 1987-88.

After graduation, she continued her running career competing at both national and provincial cross country championships.

Amsden was honoured in 1999 when she was inducted into the Mohawk Mountaineer Hall of Fame.
