A native of Belleville, Ont., Bruce Collins was an integral part of the Loyalist basketball program for 17 years, both as a player and coach.

During his playing days which began in 1980-81, Collins served as Loyalist team captain and was twice named an OCAA league all-star and team MVP.

After his playing days, and for the next 15 years, Collins served as head coach. In 1991-92, he guided his team to a bronze medal at the OCAA Division II championship and the following season, captured gold.

On three different occasions, Collins was named the OCAA Coach of the Year, and he guided his teams to 112 total victories over his tenure.

Collins also coached the touch football team for three seasons between 1983-86, with the team winning two provincial silver medals and a bronze. Collins retired from his coaching duties after the 1998-99 season.
