Colts Ride Through Wilderness, Beat Wolves

Colts Ride Through Wilderness, Beat Wolves

Ottawa, ON - The Centennial Men's Volleyball team finished the first out of two games in Ottawa with a win. They defeated the Algonquin Wolves in four sets, taking an essential step towards the top of the standings, tying up for first with the Georgian Grizzlies once again this season.

It was a great performance by the Colts. Even after losing the first set when things were not working out, they kept their heads in the game and made sure to bring the energy up to get back in the game in the second set. The Colts started out struggling to control the pace of the game, making a few unusual mistakes. They focused on solving that issue in the second set, and after four set-point opportunities, they got the momentum they needed to take over control of the game.

The third and fourth sets were marked by the Colts dominating most of the statistics. With aggressive serves, they forced the Wolves to play out of the system. Combined with a stacked and focused defensive system, the Colts led both sets from the very beginning. Zachary Orat played a vital role in keeping that system organized, allowing the setter, Michael Matsuto, to distribute the game with very few restrictions, even when in transition.

The Colts are now focused on their next challenge, which is taking on the La Cite Coyotes Sunday at 3 p.m. They have the chance to bring back two important wins and spend the night at the top of the table.
