Yotes Out Battle Colts

Ottawa, ON - After battling forcefully, the Centennial Women's Volleyball team was defeated by the hosts, La Cité Coyotes, in four sets. With difficulty maintaining the aggressive pace they inputted at the beginning of the match, they found themselves challenged by the dominant defence played by the Coyotes.

The Colts started aggressively; it looked like they were completely over the loss that happened against the Wolves the night before. The serve-receive line and the attacking system were working well together, giving the setter, Cassidy Dunlop, a lot of comfort in creating the plays.

The second set was balanced, but the Colts still showed superiority up until the 20th point, when the Coyotes surprisingly responded to the pressure and were able to take the second set at 26-24.

After that, the Colts could not find a comfortable pace to get back in the game, and their defensive system looked more disorganized than it did at the start. In addition, the Coyotes came for the third set with a polished game, making very few errors. The left-side hitter, Akemi Boudreau, took advantage of the momentum and helped the Coyotes dominate the third and fourth sets, leading the game with 18 points.

The Colts will now have the chance to get back on the winning streak this Sunday at 1 p.m. They will be facing the vice-leaders, the Durham Lords, at home. We hope they can get past this phase and show the good volleyball that they played at the beginning of the season.
