SCARBOROUGH – The Seneca Sting defeated the Centennial Colts 70-68 in a GTA matchup that went down to the wire. Sting forward Tafari Black had a double-double (16 points, 12 rebounds), which guided his team to a fourth straight win.

Colts guard Husam Shallo was firing on all cylinders, he scored 24 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the field, including 5-for-9 from three.

The Colts (4-5) got into early foul trouble, which put the Sting on the line where they capitalized by converting all 11 of their first-quarter free throws.

The Sting (7-2) were able to end the first half on a good note by getting buckets on two of their last three field goal attempts to give them a 36-33 halftime lead.

Shallo displayed his strength in the third quarter by making an and-1 layup with a Sting defender draped all over him. It would give the Colts a 40-39 lead.

The Sting would hit back-to-back threes to end the quarter from Elijah Green and Jeffrey Schumacher, as it pulled the Sting ahead entering the final frame with a 51-49 lead.

The fourth quarter saw the Sting get it going offensively, they stretched the lead to 10 points, and it would be too tall of a task for the Colts to get back, as they would drop their third straight game.

The Sting won the rebounding battle 39-26 and were +5 in the assist column.

The teams will run it back in the new year with Seneca hosting the Colts on January 10 at 8pm.
