Colts Defeat League-Leaders

Colts Defeat League-Leaders

By: Pedro Casellatto

Scarborough, ON - After coming off a loss to the Durham Lords during the week, the Centennial Women's Volleyball team was able to bounce back and defeat the then-leading Loyalist Lancers. After dropping two sets, they counted on the support of the fans and got back in the game, winning in five sets.

During the first two sets, the Colts made many mistakes, and the Lancers came in with everything they had. The Colts struggled with passing in the beginning and were not able to take advantage of their powerful side out. The Lancers' block also challenged the Colts, stopping their key attackers, and giving the Lancers many transition opportunities. With an amazing comeback in the third set, led by CL Viloria in the service line, the Colts saw the momentum on their side.

In the fourth set, it was all-or-nothing for the home team. With that in mind, the Colts showed a great performance, adding to the level of enthusiasm that the fans are used to seeing. With a nine-point lead, they closed the fourth set and came back for the tiebreak with the same intensity. Isabella Heath, who finished the game with 10 digs, played a key role and led the Colts to the win against the leaders.

After a great performance, the Colts build momentum for their last game of 2023, against the Fleming Phoenix, Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Athletic & Wellness Centre. We hope the Colts can bring the same energy and intensity as they fight their way back to the top four.
