A three pointer by Devante Nunes with 11 seconds remaining helped cap the Seneca Sting comeback against the Durham Lords 82-77 on Friday night in front of a packed crowd at Seneca College's Newnham Campus.
The Sting came out flying early, opening an 11-0 lead before the Lords closed the first quarter on a 10-5 run to trail 20-18.
The two evenly matched teams entered the half with the Sting leading 33-32 before the Lords opened up an eight point lead midway through the third quarter.
Trailing 77-74 with just over a minute to go, the Sting finished the game on an 8-0 run to pick up the win.
Joshua Yorke-Frazer (Rexdale) led the Sting with 21 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Nunes (Scarborough), Jermaine Hall and Yusef Ali each contributed 14 points. Kevin Cornwall (Maple) had a game-high 9 rebounds and Ali paced the team with 6 assists.
The Lords were led by Christoff Pierre's 18 points and 8 assists. Darian Rowe added 16 points and Aaron Hayles finished with 13 points and 5 rebounds. Dylan Pelissero added 13 points and 9 rebounds.
The Sting (6-4) are back in action on Tuesday when they host the Centennial Colts (1-10) at 8:00pm while the Lords (4-7) host George Brown (7-4), also on Tuesday at 8:00pm.
