Colts in Top Form Midway Through the Season

Scarborough, Ontario - The Centennial Colts Men's volleyball team got their brooms out on Wednesday night as they swept their way to the squad's first home win of 2023 against the Loyalist College Lancers, 3-0.

Alexander Smith registered eight kills on 13 attempts for the Colts and tallied a team-high 9.5 points on Wednesday.

Team co-captain Ayoola Ojeshina had eight kills for himself, while Brendan Chau, the other member of the captaincy team, and Sky Yui Yeung scored seven apiece.

On the side of the net, Lancers' Josh Vreugdenhil had a game-high nine kills on the night despite Loyalist loss.

Pedro Casellatto, who entered the game ranked second in the OCAA in aces per set (0.83), tallied a game-high 2 points from the serve, tied with teammate Kalan Billlard.

The Colts were off to a hot start in the first set, taking it with ease by a score of 25-16, but the following 2 sets weren't such emphatic victories.

Both the second and third sets ended in a score of 25-22, giving the Colts the win three sets to zero.

Speaking to Coach Adriana Bento after the match, she said their focus has been to" learn to play hard for the guy next to you. Those are the words on our whiteboard at every practice, and that mindset has helped push our team to the next level."

The Colts, both the Men and the Women are back in action on Friday, January 13th, when they head on the road to take on the Seneca College Sting.
