Newcomer Lionnis Salazar made his mark for the Colts immediately after stepping on the court as the Centennial's Men's volleyball team registered their third consecutive 3-0 win with their defeat over the Seneca College Sting on Friday night.

Salazar, a rookie who made his first game for the Colts on Friday, came alive in his first career appearance.

Offensively the Cuba native tallied 12 kills in his debut, while defensively, he recorded a game-best 16 digs, proving his value in both aspects of the game.

Despite the arrival of the new talent, veteran and co-captain, Brendan Chau recorded a game-high 14 kills, with Alex Smith contributing 11 of his own.

Across the court, Seb Libramonte recorded nine kills, the most of any Sting, while the entire team managed 25, a total doubled by the Colts, who combined for 51.

Centennial was in control the entire game, winning the first two sets by over a five-point margin, 25-19 in the first set, and 25-18 in the second.

The desperation of being down two sets to none on home soil sparked the Sting to get put in their best set of the night, but it wasn't enough to extend the game to a fourth frame. The Colts took it 25-22 and sealed the road victory and their third win a row.

"We won the first set against Seneca this Friday without Lio because it was important for the athletes to understand they could win with or without Lio that first set. We want to learn and grow together because we need them to be ready to play hard during stressful game moments." Said Head Coach Adriana Bento after the match

The Colts, both the men and the women, are back in action on the road on Wednesday, January 18th, where they take on the Georgian College Grizzlies.
