Penalty Kick Goal the Difference

Penalty Kick Goal the Difference

For ninety minutes, the Seneca Sting and Sheridan Bruins were virtually even in every aspect of the game. The lone exception was a penalty kick which the Bruins converted on for a 1-0 win.

The Sting looked to open the scoring early in the 5th minute, but a strike from just outside the eighteen yard box found the crossbar and was cleared away.

In the 25th minute, the Sting had deja vu, finding the crossbar once again, this time off a scramble in front of the Bruins' goal off a header.

The second half yielded few scoring chances. When a chance did arise, Kofi Oppong (Seneca) and Craig Boytchuk (Sheridan) were quick to thwart any offenses efforts.

That changed n the 71st minute when the Bruins were awarded a penalty kick. Jamil Spencer drove a shot past the Sting goalkeeper into the left side of the net for the lone goal of the match.

The loss drops the Sting's record to 0-4-0 while the Bruins move to 3-1-1 with the win.
