Colts Suffer Tough Loss to Sting

By: Jordan Stoddart

SCARBOROUGH – The Centennial Colts were unable to pick up a win in front of a packed house, as the Seneca Sting earned a hard-fought victory, 68-61. From start to finish, the Colts had no answer for Tsinat Geremew (19 points, 10 rebounds) and Tianna Leveridge (15 points, 12 rebounds), whom each posted a double-double respectively.

The Colts (2-5) trailed most of the game but were able to end the first half in spectacular fashion with guard Christianna Crooks nailing a three-pointer at the buzzer to cut the Sting lead to only 3 at halftime, 36-33.

The Sting (2-5) were without their top scorer Kaylene Arcillia, which forced guard Emily Balkissoon to step up and she poured in 18 points on 6-of-12 shooting, along with playing the full 40 minutes.

Three Colt players were able to put up double-digit scoring, Crooks (18 points), Marian Martin (13 points), and Mikaela Hawkins (17 points, 13 rebounds), who notched the lone double-double for the Colts.

The teams will battle again in the new year on January 10 at 6pm at Seneca.
