Colts Finish Year Tied for First

Scarborough, ON - In a game full of adversities, the Centennial Men's Volleyball team was able to overcome the adversity and win the last game of the year. In four sets, they finished their second matchup against the Phoenix. With that result, the Colts will get to the new year placed second, with high expectations for the remainder of the season.

The first two sets of the game were marked by the Colts pressing as usual, starting the match with intensity and organization. It seemed like the result of the first game was going to repeat in the second one. Gianluca Righetto and Nikolas Moser were effective and led the Colts in kills during the first two sets of the game. The Colts' blocking system also worked well and was crucial to keeping them ahead on the scoreboard.

In the third set, the outside hitter, Lionnis Salazar, suffered an injury and had to step off the court. The Phoenix took that opportunity to step up and challenge the Colts, as they were short one player and had no one in the position to fill in. After losing the third set, the Colts got organized again and came out to the last set of the game with the only objective of not letting the game go to the tiebreak. With a stacked defence and effective transitions, they were able to push through and take the fourth and last set of the game.

The Colts finished the first semester with a 9-2 record and will be looking to have a flawless second semester, aiming to be at the top of the standings. They will be back in action at the beginning of January when they travel to Niagara for a mid-season tournament.
