OCAA CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL RESULTS

For the first time in OCAA history, there was a tie for first place in the team compeition as the St. Clair Saints and Fanshawe Falcons both took home the gold medal as they ended the Cambrian Golden Shield's run for an eighth consecutive overall title.

In Men's Singles, it was Fanshawe's Nathanial Allard winning his third consecutive OCAA title as he defeated Georgian's Jonathan Paynter 2-0 in the Gold Medal Match. Allard swept threw the competition going 7-0 to become the third player in OCAA history to win three consecutive men's singles titles.

On the women's side, Margaret Myjak of Mohawk and Jody Carruthers of Cambrian met head-to-head in a highly anticipated gold medal final. As the pair were all square after two sets (22-20, 15-21), Jody Carruthers was on the top of her game in the final set as she upset the 2007 Player of the Year to win 2-1 (21-13).

All OCAA champions will go on to represent team Ontario at the CCAA Badminton Championships hosted by Douglas College, at the Richmond Pro Badminton Centre in Richmond, BC from March 8-10.
