TOP TALENT HEADED TO 2013 CCAA BADMINTON NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

The CCAA has confirmed athletes who have qualified for the 2013 CCAA Badminton National Championships taking place February 28 - March 2 at Georgian College in Barrie, Ont.

The tournament includes championship teams from four participating CCAA conferences, a host team and a wildcard team from B.C.'s PACWEST conference.

A total of 48 student-athletes from 13 institutions will compete in the event. Top athletes to watch for include four-time CCAA women's singles national champion RuiLin Huang of the Douglas Royals, four-time CCAA men's singles national champion Dan Kai of the NAIT Ooks, two-time CCAA men's doubles nation champion Wei Luo of the Douglas Royals, and two-time medallists Tim Chiu, Tracy Wong and Renee Yip, all representing the Humber Hawks.

The CCAA Championship Awards Banquet will precede the competition, beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 27. The round-robin competition begins on Thursday February 28 with first, second and third round play. Rounds four and five and semi-finals take place on Friday, March 1, followed by the gold, bronze and fifth-place matches on Saturday, March 2.
