WONG NAMED CCAA WOMEN'S BADMINTON PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Tracy Wong of the Humber Hawks has been named the 2013 CCAA Women's Badminton Player of the Year.

She'll compete in women's doubles at the 2013 CCAA Badminton National Championships, but previously competed in women's singles, earning silver and bronze CCAA national medals.

"Tracy is a talented player who's always working hard on her game," says Alf McGuire, CCAA badminton convenor. "She's had a stellar career, and it's time to give her the nod."

Considered one of the best female badminton players in OCAA history, she's dropped only one set all season. She's a three-time OCAA Player of the Year, three-time CCAA All-Canadian and a SIRC-CCAA Academic All-Canadian.

Other nominees for 2013 CCAA Women's Badminton Player of the Year were RuiLin Huang of the Douglas Royals, Gillian Tetlow of the Mount Allison Mounties, and Jessica Yu of the NAIT Ooks.

Wong received the award Wednesday, February 27 at the CCAA Championship Awards Banquet at the 2013 CCAA Badminton National Championships in Barrie, Ont. CCAA Players of the Year receive a customized ring provided by Jostens, the official ring supplier of the CCAA Championship Awards Banquet.

The 2013 CCAA Badminton National Championships take place February 28- March 2 at Georgian College in Barrie, Ont.
