WONG NOW TWO-TIME CCAA WOMEN'S BADMINTON PLAYER OF THE YEAR

For the second year in a row, the CCAA (Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association) has named Tracy Wong of the Humber Hawks the 2014 CCAA Women's Badminton Player of the Year.

"Tracy seems to be doing everything right," says Alf McGuire, CCAA badminton convenor. "She's got quite the track record. She's out there and involved in everything, and that gives her an edge."

After four seasons of competition which saw her named the OCAA Player of the Year and a CCAA All-Canadian every time, Wong remains undefeated in the OCAA conference. She earned gold at every OCAA tournament and will compete in mixed doubles on the OCAA championship team at the 2014 CCAA Badminton National Championships. She's already earned gold, silver and bronze CCAA medals, and the Humber Hawks are ranked third overall.

The other nominees were Kathleen Lougheed of the Douglas Royals, Yang Sun of the NAIT Ooks and Gillian Tetlow of the Mount Allison Mounties.

Wong received the award Wednesday, February 26 at the CCAA All-Canadian Banquet at the 2014 CCAA Badminton National Championships in Edmonton, Alta. Player of the Year winners receive a CCAA customized ring provided by Jostens Canada, the Official Ring Supplier of the CCAA Championship Awards Banquet.

The CCAA is a national sport organization that enriches the lives of student-athletes through intercollegiate competition.
