OCAA BADMINTON REGIONALS KICK OFF WINTER CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON

TORONTO - Student-athletes from across the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) are playing for keeps this Friday and Saturday as they bid for a spot at the 2015 OCAA Badminton Championships.

Participants will compete in five events, including men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles. The top three singles players and doubles teams from each event will advance to provincials.

Collège Boréal in Sudbury, Ont. will play host to the east regionals, and include student-athletes from Boréal, Cambrian College, Centennial College, George Brown College, Georgian College, St. Lawrence College (Brockville) and Seneca College.

Humber College in Toronto plays host to the west regionals, and includes student-athletes from Conestoga College, Fanshawe College, Humber, Mohawk College, Redeemer University College, St. Clair College and University of Toronto Mississauga, which is in its inaugural season in OCAA.

The OCAA Badminton Championships will take place Feb. 20-21 at Fanshawe College in London, Ont. The 2015 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Badminton National Championship will be hosted by University of King's College in Halifax from March 4-7.
