FANSHAWE ANNOUNCES MEN'S BASEBALL COACHING STAFF ADDITIONS

LONDON, Ont. - Fanshawe Athletics announced today the additions to their men's baseball coaching staff for the 2014-15 season. Joining head coach Brian Harvey will be assistant coaches Kenny Williams and Maurice ('Moe') Lawrence, as well as associate coach Rob Hannivan.

Assistant coach Williams joins the Fanshawe Falcons with many years and levels of both player and coaching experience. Williams began his baseball career as a dominate left-handed pitcher in the Detroit Tigers organization. He was a first round draft pick in the 1985 Major League Baseball winter draft playing single, double and triple A baseball through until 1990. At a local level, Williams was a pitcher for the London Majors Intercounty baseball team in the early 1990s.  Williams has a passion for supporting youth in the game of baseball and has been involved with coaching and development with a number of teams in the London area. "I am excited to be a part of this new athletics initiative at Fanshawe," said Williams. "It will be great for the community and I hope to use my experience and passion for the game to help the Falcons."

Assistant coach Lawrence has spent the last decade coaching various age groups within the highly-regarded London Badgers organization. Lawrence has worked alongside coach Harvey for the last three years and have led their teams to a pair of provincial silver medals. Lawrence will lead the Falcons pitching staff, as well as, develop the leadership qualities that are so important with the catching position. Lawrence is looking forward to getting the season underway saying, "I am extremely excited to join Brian and his staff as we build this program now and into the future."

For the last three years, Hannivan has coached in the North London Nationals Baseball Association and was the North London competitive programs representative with the London District Baseball Association. He is currently an assistant coach in the London Badgers organization and is an employee in the Fanshawe Athletics department. As a former varsity student-athlete himself, he understands the commitment it takes to excel on the field and in the classroom.
