OSHAWA, Ont. - The top four baseball teams in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) will be in Oshawa, Ont., this weekend as Durham College is set to host the 2014 OCAA Baseball Championship at Kinsmen Civic Memorial Stadium from Oct. 17-18.

"We are very excited to host such a great event that features the top baseball teams from across Ontario," said Durham College athletic director Ken Babcock. "With the provincial title up for grabs, teams will be leaving it all on the field making for some exciting baseball action over the two days. The event will be a great opportunity to showcase our campus facilities, hospitality and the Oshawa community to the rest of the province."

This year marks only the second running of the OCAA baseball championship, with St. Clair entering the event as the inaugural champions. Durham won silver last season with Humber earning bronze.

The two-day double knockout championship will highlight the top four teams in the OCAA battling it out for the provincial title. The event will kick-off on Thursday, Oct. 16 with the OCAA Championship awards banquet, taking place at the Quality Hotel in Oshawa at 7 p.m.

Action on the diamond will begin on Friday morning at 11 a.m. as the Humber Hawks (12-6) take on the Fanshawe Falcons (11-7). The two teams will close out the regular season tonight against one-another, to make up for a rain out earlier in the season.

Durham (11-9) will open up the championship at 1:30 p.m. against the St. Clair Saints (19-1), who won their second consecutive OCAA regular season pennant after dropping only one game. However, there is optimism in Durham's clubhouse as the Lords were the only team to knock-off the Saints, picking up a 3-2 win in their final meeting of the season.
