THRILLING DAY TO END THE YEAR FOR DURHAM BASEBALL

THRILLING DAY TO END THE YEAR FOR DURHAM BASEBALL

WINDSOR, Ont. - The Durham College baseball team had their season come to an end with an 11-0 loss to their OCAA rival St. Clair College, however, it was the game earlier in the day that everyone was talking about.

Trailing the Waterloo Warriors of the OUA by a score of 8-3 in the top of the seventh inning, Durham put together a five-run rally to tie the game at eight runs apiece. In extra innings, the Lords comeback would not be stopped as they cashed in two more runs to win by a final score of 10-8.

The comeback effort would not have been possible if it wasn't for the strong pitching performance by reliever Dakota Parsons (Pickering, Ont.), who entered the game in the fifth inning with the Lords trailing by five runs. Parsons pitched four shutout innings, holding the Warriors offence to just three hits and one walk in the extra innings victory.

Dylan Harkness (Bowmanville, Ont.) and Jack Lang (Pickering, Ont.), each had two hits in the win while combining for four RBI and one run scored. Harkness had a two-run home run in the fifth inning that banked off the scoreboard.

Saturday's win was Durham's first in two years at the OUA/OCAA Baseball Championship.

The champions of the OUA and OCAA, Brock and St. Clair, will battle it out in the championship game(s) on Sunday beginning at noon.
