DURHAM 13, SENECA 1

OSHAWA, Ont. – The Durham College men's baseball team earned a pair of home victories on Tuesday night as they beat Seneca by scores of 15-1 and 13-1.

The doubleheader sweep puts the Lords at 8-3 this season and in second place in the OCAA East region, a game ahead of the Humber Hawks (8-5).

Durham produced most of their runs in Game 1 in the fourth inning as they managed to put 12 on the board. In total, the Lords had 14 hits on the night which included two from Michael Cyr, Ryan George, Jack Lang, Jake Olynyk and Keenan Terwillegar. George and Kyle Conquer drove in three runs apiece in the win.

Wesley Hardwick had a strong outing on the mound for Durham, allowing only one run off of three Seneca hits and two walks. Hardwick struck out seven Seneca batters in his second win this season.

The Lords would spread out their offence in Game 2, scoring in four straight innings. Leading 3-1 in the third, Durham would break things wide open capitalizing on three Seneca errors and putting up seven hits and seven runs in the inning.

Aaron McQuillen had a big night at the plate going 4-for-4 with two runs and three RBIs. The Lords outfielder/pitcher is hitting .414 this season, which is good enough for fourth in the conference. McQuillen also pitched a complete game for Durham, allowing only two Seneca hits and one run while striking out six batters.

Also posting a multi-hit game were Dale Valade, Andrew Fleming and Olynyk, who each had two hits apiece.

The Lords will play their final home game on Thursday night as they host the George Brown Huskies. Game time is 7 p.m. In their last meeting (Sunday), George Brown and Durham split their doubleheader.
