LONDON, Ont. - The Fanshawe baseball team started their inaugural season this week at home with a pair of doubleheaders.

The Falcons finished the weekend 3-1, putting them in second place in the OCAA standings.

On Saturday, the Falcons opened their season up against the Seneca Sting at beautiful Labatt Park. In the first game, pitcher Brett Sabourin (1-0) pitched a complete game four-hitter including eight strikeouts to help lead the Falcons to the 9-2 victory.

Jordan Clements was 3-for-3 with two runs scored for the Falcons and Travis Helps went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run scored.

The second game of the doubleheader was much of the same, as Travis Help (1-0) also pitched a fantastic game. Not only did he pitch a complete game, but he also went 2-for-3 at the plate with a walk, as the Falcons won 10-0 in just 5 innings.

Paul Lytwynec went 1-for-3 with two runs, a walk and an RBI.

On Sunday, Fanshawe hosted the Durham Lords at Stronach Park. The teams split the two games with the Falcons winning the first game 12-5 and then dropping the second 6-1.

Next up, the Falcons travel to Humber on Saturday, Sept. 13 to take on the Hawks. Humber finished last season with the OCAA bronze medal.
