DURHAM 3, FANSHAWE 0

OSHAWA, Ont. – The Durham College men's baseball team split their doubleheader with the Fanshawe Falcons this weekend, as the Lords finish the regular season with an 11-9 record.

Durham ends up in fourth place and will match up with the St. Clair Saints (19-1) in the opening round of the OCAA championship, which is set to take place at Kinsmen Civic Memorial Stadium in Oshawa, Ont., from Oct. 17-18. Although St. Clair, the defending OCAA champions, have dominated competition this year, Durham has the right to be optimistic as they handed the Saints their only loss of the season back on Sept. 20 in Oshawa.

Travis Rice of the Falcons shutdown the Lords in game one of their doubleheader, holding Durham to just one hit by Keenan Terwillegar and three walks. Durham pitcher Ryan Norris pitched six innings and allowed seven runs, but only four of them were earned as the defence committed four errors.

In game two, the teams reversed roles as Durham ace Ilija Bozinovski pitched a complete game two-hitter to go on and earn his fifth win of the season. Bozinovski only need 76 pitches to shut down the Falcons offence.

Durham's offence wasn't exactly on fire in the win, as they only recorded four hits. However, the Lords had patience at the plate going on to pick up seven walks. Spencer Green was the only Lord with a multi-hit game as he went 2-for-3 with a run scored.

The Lords close out the regular season winning eight of their last 10 games.
