HUMBER 6, ST. CLAIR 5

TORONTO - The St. Clair College men's baseball team moved their record to 11-3 atop the OCAA standings after splitting at Humber College (8-6) in Etobicoke, Ont., at Connorvale Park Sunday.  St. Clair won the opening game by a score of 2-1 but fell 6-5 in the second game of the doubleheader.

Shane Courtney (Windsor, Ont.) pitched a complete game three-hitter for St. Clair in the opener and walked no batters in a great performance. Max Ayarza (Bocas del Toro, Panama) and Kevin Dion (Newmarket, Ont.) each had a pair of hits in the victory for the Saints. But Eric Cunningham (LaSalle, Ont./St. Thomas of Villanova) and Matt Bassingthwaighte (Windsor, Ont./FJ Brennan) supplied the RBI singles to account for the St. Clair scoring.

In the second game, St. Clair took a 1-0 lead in the second inning but fell behind 3-1 by the third inning and then 6-3 by the fourth inning. The Saints made it interesting by getting to within a run by the sixth inning but could not get anyone on base in the seventh inning.

The Saints will host doubleheaders Friday versus Seneca College (North York) with game times of 6 p.m./8 p.m. and then Saturday against George Brown College (Toronto) at 1 p.m./3 p.m. all at Lacasse Park in Tecumseh. They cap their OCAA regular season schedule with a doubleheader at Durham College in Oshawa on Sunday which completes a very busy stretch for the Saints who also travel to Macomb CC Wednesday in Warren, Mich., for an exhibition doubleheader.
