ST. CLAIR MEN'S BASEBALL 2-0 TO OPEN NATIONALS

OSHAWA, Ont. - The St. Clair College men's baseball had a successful opening day at the national invitational championship tournament being hosted by Durham College in Oshawa, Ont., on Thursday. The Saints won 10-1 over Fanshawe College (London) in their opening game at noon and then followed that up with an 8-3 decision over Humber College (Etobicoke) later that afternoon.

Micah Harris (Harrow) picked up a complete game, five-hit win on the mound for the Saints while striking out five Fanshawe batters in the first game. Kevin Dion (Newmarket), Matt Bondy (Amherstburg) and Curtis Cunningham (LaSalle) each had two hits in the game. Cunningham provided the big blast with a three-run homer for St. Clair as part of his four RBI game.

In the Game 2 win over Humber the Saints, starter Mitchell Prsa (Tecumseh) got the win working four innings and gave up only two hits and two runs to go with four strikeouts. Bondy had another three hits in the St. Clair attack that produced 10 hits as a team.

St. Clair faces host Durham College at 8:30 a.m. on Friday to continue round robin play in the seven-team tournament.
