FANSHAWE 6, SENECA 3

LONDON, Ont. - The defending national champion Fanshawe Falcons men's baseball team (2-0) defeated the Seneca Sting (0-2) in both games of their doubleheader on Saturday afternoon by scores of 6-3 and 10-4.

In the first game, both teams got off to a slow start. In the fourth inning, Fanshawe finally opened the scoring on a Zach Desa (London) RBI, scoring Hayden Regnier (Komoka). The Falcons caught on fire in the sixth inning when with the bases loaded, Tyler Wood (Niagara Falls) hit a triple to score three. Wood then went on to score on a double by Zev Weisdorf (London). Seneca looked to make a comeback in the final inning, however fell short, and the Falcons closed them out to win the game 6-3. Weisdorf had an outstanding game, going 3-for-4, with one RBI and one run. The winning pitcher for Fanshawe was Oakville native, Tyler Rymal (1-0).

The Falcons started where they left off in Game 2, scoring five runs in the first inning. Weisdorf led the way for Fanshawe, with three hits and scoring two runs. Wood also went 3-for-4 with two runs and left-fielder Desa added two RBIs and one run. The winning pitcher for the Falcons was Markham native, Stephen Barclay (1-0).

Fanshawe returns to action tomorrow, when they host the George Brown Huskies (0-2) at Aldridge Field. Game times are 12 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
