SAULT COLLEGE TO HOST 2014 CCAA CURLING NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Sault College Cougars are keeping the tradition of CCAA curling alive with a bid to host the 2014 CCAA Curling National Championships.

The 2014 CCAA Curling National Championships are confirmed to take place March 18-22, 2014 at the Soo Curlers Club in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. Eight men and eight women’s teams will compete in a round robin tournament officiated by the CAA (Canadian Curling Association).

"As an institution with a strong curling history, we want to continue to develop the CCAA Curling National Championships," says Scott Gray, athletic director at Sault College. "Our school, our community and its curling fans are looking forward to hosting our first ever CCAA national championship in the curling hotbed of Northern Ontario."

CCAA curling was successfully revived last year after a 20-year absence. The Sault Cougars men's and women's teams both competed at the 2012 CCAA Curling Invitational Championship in Peterborough, Ont.

The 2013 CCAA Curling National Championships will be hosted by the NAIT Ooks at Avonair Curling Club in Edmonton, Alta. March 20-23, 2013.
