MOHAWK MEN ROMP AT OCAA CURLING CHAMPIONSHIPS

SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. - The Mohawk men's team scored three times in the second end and counted four times in each of the fourth and sixth ends, in an 11-4, six end win over St. Clair at the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association Curling Championships in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., on Friday afternoon.

The Mountaineers, skipped by Logan James, improved to 3-1 after their third straight win at the Soo Curlers Club. Mohawk will play Confederation in the final draw of the day at 6:15 p.m.

The Mohawk mixed team, skipped by Wes Steen, just managed to get by Fanshawe 5-4. With the teams tied 3-3 after five ends, Mohawk stole one in the sixth, Fanshawe tied it again in the seventh and Mohawk got a game winning single in the eighth end. With the win, the Mountaineers improved to 2-1. Humber still leads with a 3-0 record.

Kendall Haymes' Mountaineer women will play host Sault College at 5:45 p.m. Both teams are part of a four-way logjam atop the standings with 3-1 marks.
